Sources told DBlastMedia there was a massive sigh of relief at the Seat Pleasant Police Department on Friday when employees received word of Police Chief Devan Martin's departure. One staffer, who plans to celebrate with co-workers this weekend, said it was a moment many employees had long hoped would come.

DBlastMedia has learned that the City's Council decided to suspend Martin late Thursday evening. Officials were going to notify Martin the following morning but one of his supporters on the council leaked the information to him beforehand.

Martin sent an announcement to employees Friday afternoon stating that he was retiring. Prompting immediate ridicule from staff members who pointed out Martin is only thirty-three years old and does not qualify for retirement. Employees told DBlastMedia that people were not fooled by the former chief's attempt to save face.

Martin did not indicate what he plans to do next, aside from his usual ministering on Sundays at Hemingway Memorial Church in District Heights, Maryland. But DBlastMedia discovered that Martin and his wife Monay Henry recently started a company named Martin Management LLC.
