Cop Facing More Charges After Recent Arrest
Updated: 6 days ago

A Capitol Heights police officer indicted last month by a Harford County grand jury for first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and false imprisonment now faces more charges for allegedly contacting the victim.
Officer Kelvin Wayne Davis Jr., 39, was arrested on May 5 for reportedly violating his pretrial release conditions. Sources tell DBlastMedia that the earlier indictment accuses Davis of choking and beating his wife, who has since filed for divorce. Court records show that Davis has two previous divorces.
Davis began working for the Capitol Heights Police Department in April 2021 after other departments had rejected him. DBlastMedia member Shabazz Washington said Davis is one of the many disreputable applicants who has benefited from Police Chief Mark Cummings' exceedingly low hiring standards.
According to our research, Davis had two unpaid civil judgments when he landed a job in Capitol Heights and was sued at least four other times in the preceding years. Davis's history of arrest is more troubling. Davis was charged with child abduction in 2018, possession of open alcoholic containers in 2013 and 2003, and burglary in 2011. He was convicted of assault in North Carolina before that.
DBlastMedia reached out to Police Chief Mark Cummings for comment but did not receive a response.
