Former Maryland State Trooper Carl Miller was all smiles after being appointed the Cheverly police chief in March, 2022. But Miller's mood was much different when his tenure abruptly ended this week.

Sources inside the Cheverly Police Department told DBlastMedia that Miller chose to resign instead of being fired. According to those sources, employees were fed up with Miller and complained to town officials. The people DBlastMedia spoke with said Miller is vindictive and targets subordinates who crossed him. They accuse Miller of creating a toxic work environment which damaged employee moral and endangered public safety.

Miller worked for the Maryland State Police before retiring in 2015. The Town hired Miller six years later without interviewing other candidates, apparently because of his close ties with a local official. Cheverly Mayor Kayce Munyeneh said then, "Miller brings a great wealth of knowledge, leadership, and professional expertise to the Cheverly Police Department".

DBlastMedia reached out to Mayor Munyeneh and Town Administrator Dylan Galloway for comment. Mayor Munyeneh wrote back in part, "Thank you for your inquiry. Chief Miller's letter of resignation was submitted and accepted." Galloway replied, "Please see the public statement that was sent out today in the link below. I have no further comment on this confidential matter."

DBlastMedia disagrees with Galloway's claim that the matter is confidential.
